Prospect Radar: Week 7 + Season Spotlights

Matt Shaw torched Triple-A pitching for a .346 AVG and video-game .923 SLG over 31 plate appearances, launching five homers and squaring up 63 % of his contact. Samuel Basallo wasn’t far behind, stinging 70 % of his balls in play and pairing a .333 AVG with three long balls, while 19-year-old Kevin McGonigle reached base in half his trips and—most impressively—did not strike out once. On the flip side, swing-and-miss gremlins dragged down former hobby darlings Carson Williams and Carter Johnson. Season-to-date trends continue to shine a spotlight on Konnor Griffin’s power-speed combo, Marcelo Mayer’s growing on-base skills, and Eduardo Tait’s rare thump behind the plate.
