How do I scan a card?

Open the scanner and either take a photo with your camera or upload one from your library. Make sure the card fills the frame, the lighting is even, and the text is readable. Pick a scan mode (see below), submit, and our AI gets to work. On the web app your results appear right on the screen, usually in about 30–60 seconds. On the mobile app, scans process in the background and you'll get a notification when they're ready, so you don't have to wait on the screen.

Scan modes: identify, grade, and price

There are two things a scan can do — identify and price a card, or grade its condition: Identify / Price — get the card's details (player, set, year, parallel, serial) and a market value. On the web app this is the Price mode; on mobile it's Quick Scan for a fast single card ID and Check Price for a deeper pricing pass. A deeper price pass works best with both a front and a back photo . Grade — a pre grade estimate instead of just an ID. You'll get feedback on centering, corners, edges, and surface, plus a likely grade — so you can decide whether a card is worth sending in before you pay gradi

Choose Grade Card and photograph your card. Our AI gives you a pre grade estimate — feedback across the four areas graders care about (centering, corners, edges, and surface), plus a likely grade with estimates across the major grading companies. It's built for the question every collector asks before mailing cards off: is this one worth grading? Use it to triage a stack, skip the cards that won't grade well, and prioritize the ones most likely to come back strong — before you spend a cent on grading fees. It's an estimate to guide your decision, not an official grade.

Slab / cert lookup: add a graded card by its number

Already have a graded card? Just give us the cert number and we'll auto fill the card details, the grade, and the front and back images for you — no manual typing. In the mobile app, Slab Lookup lets you scan the slab's QR code or type the number; on the web collect app, enter the cert number when you add a card.

Manual entry: add a card by hand

Accepted Answer

Prefer to type? Choose Manual when adding a card and fill in the details yourself — player, year, card number, set, parallel, serial, grade, purchase price, and more. Manual entry doesn't use any scan allowance, so it's handy for cards you already know cold.

The centering tool

The mobile app has a separate, hands on Centering tool. Open it, then drag the outer lines to your card's edges and the inner lines to the image edges — it calculates the centering ratio and shows which grade that centering would qualify for. On the web app, centering is reported automatically as part of a grade scan (a read only visualization), rather than as a separate draggable tool.

Where do my scans go? Finding your scan history

Accepted Answer

Scanning requires you to be signed in (and email verified), so every scan you run is saved to your scan history automatically. Open any past scan to see the identified card and its pricing again.

Why do I need to verify my email to scan?

Accepted Answer

AI scanning asks you to verify your email first — a quick one time step that keeps accounts secure and your scan allowance tied to you. If you signed up with email, check your inbox for the verification link. Signing in with Google or Apple usually handles this for you.
